All of the ancient civilizations were really cool and all very different from each other. They all famed, dressed, celebrated, and organized their social classes differently. The Aztec had floating gardens called Chinanpas whereas the Inca and Maya had regular gardens and farmlands. The Inca's clothing actually determined the state of one's social being/ level of nobility on the social pyramid. The other civilizations, (Maya and Aztec) wore hand spun clothing made by the women of the group. In the Aztec and Inca civilizations, the farmers were on top of the commoners and slaves. In the Mayan civilization, the farmers were on the same level of the social pyramid as the commoners and slaves.
These amazing civilizations were different and similar in many ways one of which is clothing. They all dressed differently and lived in different climates. Single Mayan men wore brighter colors then those who were married. The Inca emperor wore each cloth only once before discarding the cloth. In Aztec culture, the noble men wore special sandals called cactli. There were reserved for only the most noble men.
All of the civilizations had to farm if they were to maintain a sustainable diet. The Aztec farmed with special gardens built in moderate bodies of water called Chinanpas. The Inca and Maya had regular gardens on land and had irrigation systems. The Aztecs were still the most innovative and efficient farmers around. They didn't need irrigation because of the Chinanpas. Farming was a fun and efficient way to get yummy food!
